Motor end covers are core precision structural parts for motors, requiring high dimensional accuracy, smooth surface, good concentricity and stable mechanical performance. According to different product grades and batch requirements, we adopt two mature and professional casting processes: automatic sand casting and shell mold casting (Croning process), specially customized for iron motor end covers.

For high-end, export-grade and high-precision motor end covers, we adopt resin-coated sand shell mold casting technology. Compared with traditional sand casting, the shell mold features higher mold rigidity, smoother cavity surface and tighter dimensional control. The finished end covers have ultra-smooth surface, smaller machining allowance, fewer internal defects and better concentricity. This process effectively avoids casting deformation, sand holes and porosity, meeting the strict quality requirements of high-speed motors, servo motors and precision industrial motor accessories.

Introduce of shell mold casting:

Shell mold casting, also known as the Croning process, is a precision expendable-mold casting process. It uses fine silica sand pre-coated with phenolic thermosetting resin. The resin-coated sand is brought into contact with a preheated metal pattern; the heat cures the resin and forms a thin, rigid sand shell (normally 5–15 mm thick). Two shell halves are stripped, assembled and clamped. Cores can be inserted if needed. The shell assembly is placed in a flask and backed up by steel shot or loose sand for support. Molten metal is poured into the gating system, solidified, then the shell is broken to remove the casting.

Advantage of shell mold casting processing:

Compared with green sand casting, shell molding delivers better surface finish, tighter dimensional tolerance, high repeatability and less machining allowance.
